What is BMW Service?

How often should I make a BMW Service appointment and what are the recommended Service intervals for my vehicle?

BMW replaced rigid maintenance intervals with a personalised service in 1982. Specific sensors and algorithms monitor the different operating conditions of your BMW. The Condition Based Service (CBS) determines your vehicle's current and future maintenance requirements. The system allows you to adjust the scope of maintenance to your personal needs.

Use the controls display to see the remaining mileage and periods for the selected maintenance requirements, including any legally binding dates:

  • Brake pads: front and rear, individually

How do I know what my BMW's service needs are?

Consult the control display to find out when the next service is due, for example engine oil, brake pads, etc. In addition, your vehicle continuously stores all the necessary maintenance information during your journey on the remote control (vehicle key). Your BMW Authorised Service Point can simply read the data from your remote control and make a proposal that includes the maintenance work appropriate to your situation.

What is the BMW VIN and where can I find it?

The VIN is the vehicle identification number or chassis number. You can find the vehicle identification number in part 1, section E of your registration certificate. Part 1 of the registration certificate has existed on this model since 2005. Before 2005, the VIN was included in the registration documents, in section 4.
